BRIEF BIO


John Jillions is an Assistant Professor at the Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies at Saint Paul University and Dean of Annunciation Orthodox Cathedral in Ottawa. He writes a weekly column for The Ottawa Citizen and has also lectured at the Ottawa Lay School of Theology and the University of Sherbrooke program in Orthodox Theology. Born in Montreal, Prof. Jillions received his BA in Economics from McGill University, a Master of Divinity from St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary, a PhD in New Testament from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece),   and a Doctor of Ministry from St. Vladimir’s.From 1997-2002 he was a founding director and then first Principal of the Institute for Orthodox Christian Studies in Cambridge, England. He holds an impressive list of publications, presentations and ecumenical activities. He has served Orthodox parishes in New York City, Australia, New Jersey, Thessaloniki and Cambridge. Fr. John is married to Denise and they have three sons, Andrew, Alex and Anthony.

Rev. Prof. John Jillions received his Ph.D. in New Testament from Aristotle Univerisity of Thessaloniki and is the parish priest at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Ottawa. He taught THO 2131 General Introduction to the Eastern Churches (Fall 2003) and THO 6388 Classical Texts in Eastern Liturgy from Chrysostom to Schmemann (Jan. 2004).
