Faculty of Philosophy

The activities of the Faculty of Philosophy at Saint Paul University proceed from an understanding of philosophy as a human practice that aims at deploying human excellence (ethics) as well as developing the human community (politics).

Programs offered under the auspices of the Faculty of Philosophy are influenced by a holistic understanding of what constitutes education. For in addition to being a human science, philosophy is the art of living humanely that is acquired through the integration of the three dimensions that govern human existence: thought, emotion, and body. Philosophy is about a fully-deployed human existence and ultimately about a world worth living in.

Moreover, philosophy has always been understood in the Catholic tradition as a strong ally of theological reflection by bringing to light the philosophical underpinnings of certain theological developments, by clarifying the language of faith, and by articulating the fundamental structures of human existence that render possible an attitude such as faith.

The Saint Paul University Faculty of Philosophy specializes in ethics and philosophical theology.
