Scholarships

It is with great joy that the Ethics Centre awarded two $1250 scholarships for 2005-2006 to two promising doctoral students: Ms. Jessica Fraser and Fr. Bernard Kentia. The scholarships were made possible because of the generous support of Saint Paul University administration.

Jessica Fraser. Jessica is doing her Ph.D. in Ethics (Faculty of Theology). Her research project explores the relationship between ecological theology and its external manifestations in concrete ecological practices. To this end, she is doing an analysis of the ecotheology of Sallie McFague for its implications for radical ecological change. She will draw on ecological theology, liberationist literature on the relationship between theory and praxis, and interdisciplinary literature on the nature of ecologically sustainable practices in the North.

Bernard Kentia. Bernard is also doing his Ph.D. in Ethics (Faculty of Theology). His research interests are tied to the theoretical and practical pertinence of Cameroonian Catholic bishops' social teaching during the democratization period (1988-1998). Bernard aims at exploring three ways (theological, ethical and communicational) that might further a more efficient relationship between the Church and African society.
